Labor Day Weekend in St. George

Labor Day Weekend this year did NOT disappoint! We drove up to St. George where we stayed in a condo with my family for the weekend! This included us, my parents, my sister and her husband, and my cousin and her boyfriend! We played games, ate all the junk food, watched movies, loved on Lexi (duh), and hiked around some beautiful scenery!

On Saturday, we drove to St. George and went straight to Chick-fil-a... Of course. Then we played in the water at the Snow Canyon Aquatic Center and checked into our condo! On Sunday we went to church, then breakfast with Logan's mom and grandpa. After Lexi's nap, we decided to go up Snow Canyon and walk around! I can't get enough of the red rock and the sight of Logan carrying Lexi girl around in the hiking backpack! Adorable!

Is she glaring at me? Haha.
Thanks for getting the smile out of her, Uncle Michael!

She LOVES being outside exploring and it's probably my favorite thing to watch.

Early Monday morning, we got up and drove to Zion to hike Angel's Landing! My mom stayed back with Lexi since we didn't want to hike with her all the way up there... If you've ever been, it's pretty sketchy near the top. They have chains that you hold onto and sheer cliffs on either side of you! But I love that kind of stuff. Also, little did my cousin Megan know that her boyfriend was planning to propose up top! More on that later! P.S. These next ones are all iPhone photos, cause, duh, I wasn't about to lug my Nikon up the mountain! Although I kind of wish I had! It was absolutely beautiful!

We got to the trailhead and it was FREEZING still! The sun hadn't come over the mountain and I was wearing short shorts and a tank top haha! Good to know for the next time I hike this. But of course, as soon as we really got going, I warmed up.

See that ridge there? Yeah you hike up that!

This was where Logan and my brother in law decided to turn back and drive back to the condo to help my mom back all the stuff up, since we would barely make it back in time to checkout. I was sad we didn't get to go all the way to the top together, but grateful he let me go up the rest of the way because I REALLY wanted to! Especially since I was going to help with the proposal. Haha. How sweet is he for thinking about my mom though...!! Love him!

This picture doesn't really do the precariousness of this rock justice... It was right on the edge and you seriously couldn't lean back or else you'd fall off... It was probably a good thing Logan wasn't there to witness me climb up it to get a picture, haha.

The view from the top!

Derek, my cousin's boyfriend, wanted our help with the proposal. We decided to get some chalk and when we got to the top, find a flat enough spot to write this on it. It worked out super well and it was SO cute to witness them getting engaged! Congratulations Megan and Derek!

We drove home straight after we got back from the hike which meant I didn't get to shower haha (sorry for my stench, Log). Lexi slept the rest of the way back and we spent the rest of the day relaxing together at home! It was such a good weekend!

Lexi Klaire Turns One

Our Lexi girl turns one on Wednesday, but we went up to Utah to have her first birthday party at my parent's house this past weekend! It was a blast! We got to see friends and family that we haven't seen in forever.

A baby's first birthday is KIND OF a big deal. I mean, for the parents. The babes don't really remember anything... But us parents do! It's like a right of passage and a way to show off your beautiful baby! (And be like, "Hey, guys, we made it a year. She's alive and healthy... YAY!")

It took me a long time to figure out what 'theme' I wanted for her birthday party. I wanted to keep it simple so I decided to go FLORAL. I tried to keep the colors consistent throughout: white, red, and shades of pink. Gotta do something girly, right? Plus this is the only party where I get to pick the theme and not her. Hehe. Here are some of the details:

My mom was a cupcake wizard with these rose cupcakes! Not to mention they were delicious!

I really wanted to display all of the monthly pictures I've taken of Lexi over the past year (excuse me while I go cry...) so I found a template and made these flowers, attached them to clothespins, and hung the pictures from them. Gosh she's cute.

The most time consuming thing was making these flowers! It took me countless hours cutting and gluing and I had sore fingers for a few days! Haha! But I LOVE the way they turned out. I got the idea from Pinterest (duh) but then kind of made them my own. I am planning on doing a blog post soon on how I made them. And a few of them are now going in Lexi's nursery.

I also made the high-chair banner! As you can tell I DIY-ed the crap out of the decorations. It was so fun!

Whitney from The Blonde Who Bakes made this ADORABLE pink ombre flower cake for Lexi! Could you just die? All the heart eyes!

We ate and mingled with friends who hadn't even met Lexi and got to meet some of their babies for the first time, too. Even though she was super sick the day before, she was in a really good mood and hammed it up for the guests, walking around smiling. She really does light up the room you guys! I can't believe I'm lucky enough to call her my daughter.

Bubbles are the BEST!
Next was the cake smash and opening presents!

Her favorite thing was taking the flowers off the banner and the cake and handing them to us.

Going in for the kill, haha!
 "I'm ONE!"
And she's just the sweetest- sharing her yummy cake with us!

It wouldn't be a one year old's party without some tears, right? I just can't even deal with that cry face. She's gonna get everything she wants with this face, I swear.

Being the center of attention is tiring!

Daddy making us laugh, as usual!

Thanks to everyone who came! And a BIG shout out to my mom and sister and all of our helpers! We could not have done this party without you.

I know every mom on planet earth says things like, "I can't believe by baby is one!" or "They grow so fast!" or "Slow down time!" BUT IT'S ALL HOW I FEEL. Call it cliche, sappy, cheesy, what have you. That's the way it is. But it really has been the most amazing year of my life; having her, watching her grow. She is such a light and joy! Having her sweet spirit in our home has been the best thing. I love you so much my Lexi girl!

Happy Birthday!
